Image compression reduces a file's size by storing the picture more efficiently, usually by discarding detail the eye is unlikely to notice. Smaller images load faster on websites, attach more easily to email and take up less storage.

The quality slider controls how much detail is kept. Around 70–80% is a good balance for photos: the file often shrinks dramatically while looking essentially unchanged. WebP typically produces smaller files than JPEG at the same quality.

This compressor works entirely inside your browser using the canvas API, so your images are never uploaded to a server. That makes it safe for private photos, screenshots containing personal information, or client work under NDA.
